The Call for Lash Artists to stop Cross Contamianation

Cross-contamination refers to the transfer of harmful microorganisms from one substance or surface to another, leading to the potential spread of infection or illness. This can occur in various environments, including kitchens, healthcare settings, and beauty salons, often due to improper sanitation practices!!

The main modes of pathogens are: direct, indirect, airborne and vector borne transmission.

Understanding cross-contamination and the modes of pathogen spread is crucial for maintaining hygiene and preventing infections in lash services. The most common form of cross contamination I witness from lash professionals is indirect contamination!

Our lash supply store used to feature exacto knives for purchase alongside tweezers! We placed them there to motivate lash artists to trim their lash strips.

Here’s why:

1. Only cutting what you will use helps minimize product waste.

2. Any unused materials on your lash tile should be discarded after each client’s service.

3. Transferring products from one lash tile to another or to a different client creates a risk of cross-contamination.

4. Consider cutting your lash strips into quarters or right before the service based on your estimated needs! This will improve your understanding of product usage as you advance in your career!
