Lifelong Learning: The Best Educators Are Always Students
In the world of beauty and education, there’s one truth I live by: The best educators continue to position themselves as students and lifelong learners. As someone deeply invested in the lash industry and esthetics education, I know that my journey doesn’t stop at mastering techniques — it continues as I seek new knowledge and innovative methods to better serve my students and clients.
Stepping Into the Student Role
One of my New Year (birthday) goals was to actively put myself in more rooms as a student — whether it’s to learn about esthetics, new lash techniques, motherhood, faith, growth, or life. Recently, I had the pleasure of attending the Lash Brunch hosted by @lashbaby.official and @thelashcheerleader. This event was full of inspiration, with fun and insightful speakers sharing the latest innovative techniques and theories in the lash industry.
The brunch was more than just an event; it was a reminder of what we miss when we choose not to invest in continuing education units (CEUs). These opportunities are crucial for staying ahead in our ever-evolving field. I loved every moment of learning from industry leaders and connecting with other passionate lash artists.
A New Connection and Skill Upgrade
From "The Lash Brunch", I was fortunate enough to connect with Sandra Lee. Recently, I took a virtual course titled "Ditch The Pinch" with Sandra Lee from LASHFULLEE ACADEMY & STUDIO. This online instruction has helped me pick up a new skill. I learned how to speed up my fan-making process without using a secondary hand to create fans, effectively cutting my fan-making speed in half. Techniques like these are exactly why I am committed to being both an educator and a lifelong learner.
Growth Is the Goal
Last year, my focus was on motherhood and bonding. This year, I’m excited to put some of that time back into my business, expanding my skills and knowledge to remain one of Portland’s top lash educators. By continuing to learn and grow, I can better guide my students and share the most current techniques and trends in the industry.
Investing in yourself through education not only enriches your own practice but also empowers your community. Whether you’re an established professional or just starting out, remember that growth and education go hand in hand. Stay curious, stay passionate, and never stop learning!
